Ophthalmic Tech Cert Jobs

Prepare patients for examinations, perform visual field and other ancillary testing, and provide patient education.

Six (6) months of customer service experience

One (1) year of experience as a Certified Ophthalmic/Optometric Assistant or Tech, Certified Medical Assistant, or Licensed Practical Nurse

National certification in surgical technology preferred. However, 10 years or more experience in a comparable setting is acceptable Required

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of surgical procedures required

Computer skills may be required.

Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of obstetrical/surgical procedures and instrumentation.

Demonstrates knowledge of anatomy related to obstetrical/surgical procedure.

Demonstrates knowledge of techniques used by various surgeons for various procedures

Demonstrates knowledge of sterilization and disinfection, as evidenced by practice.

Effective interpersonal and communication skills

Minimum Level of Education Required:

3 Month training in phlebotomy Certification

Knowledge of general phlebotomy equipment

Previous experience if no formal training

Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)

Proficient computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, database)

Performs POC testing accurately if assigned, using established protocol and QC. Notifies appropriate caregiver of critical values. 10%

Leader: Works with instrument coordinator, material management, and SPD to maintain instrumentation and supplies

Manages processes effectively in regard to employee/patient safety.

Leader: Demonstrates clinical expertise in service line and stays current with knowledge in new technology

Technical Experience: 6 months or specialized training for non-certified or on the job and military training

Maintains all required records, reports, statistics, logs, files and other documents as required.

Promotes a culture of process improvement by participating in unit/department based programs that supports the system’s process improvement goals.

Decontaminates and sterilizes instruments, medical supplies: and assembles wraps and sterilizes trays of instruments.

Monitors biological and chemical wash solution to ensure quality and consistency for decontamination of instruments and medical equipment.

Ensures medication management processes meet all legal and regulatory requirements.

Sterile Compounding Certification accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).

Communicates when products need to be reordered. Manages drug supplies in a cost-effective manner and identifies opportunities to minimize waste.

National certification through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB).
