Job Overview


The Ophthalmic Tech - Certified will be responsible for conducting technical and administrative patient support activities that assist the professional staff (Ophthalmologist, Orthoptist, Residents, etc.) in administering the healthcare and support needed for patients and families in the outpatient ophthalmic clinic. The Ophthalmic Tech will work under the Children’s Hospital Colorado professional and behavior standards.

Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits
Shift: Mon-Fri 8 am- 5 pm

Qualifications

EDUCATION – High School Diploma
EXPERIENCE – 1 year of work experience as an Ophthalmic Tech. Pediatric setting preferred.
CERTIFICATION(S) – BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire. Certified Ophthalmic Medical Tech (COMT) or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT)

Essential Functions

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

  • Prepare and administer eye medications
  • Responsible for maintenance of pediatric ophthalmology clinics, which include maintaining files, stocking exam rooms, maintaining exam room equipment and pharmaceutical supplies
  • Provide eye care and contact lens information to patient
  • Maintain and clean ophthalmic instruments
  • Gather patient information and review medical records
  • Utilize medical record system to update patient information and medical record
  • Administer diagnostic tests
  • May conduct phone triage for follow up or current patients
  • Assist providers in basic patient procedures

Salary Information

Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $52,922.81 to $79,384.22
Hourly Salary Range: $25.44 to $38.17
