Ability to clearly communicate procedures, policies, and other information verbally, in writing and/or by demonstration, to students, staff, and/or management.

Ability to effectively present information to students, management and/or public groups.

Support the educational process to meet or exceed budgeted expectations in the areas of student retention.

Education: High School Graduate or equivalent.

Proven record of successful supervisory experience in a people-oriented environment.

Implement instructional activities that contribute to students being actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences within a positive environment.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the director of the summer program.

Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs.

Maintain effective and efficient record keeping procedures. Attendance must be reported daily throughout the summer.

Assume responsibility for meeting course and student performance goals by demonstrating gains through student evaluations.

Attend weekly staff meeting to discuss the progress of the students.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Teaching experience at the high school or college level

Ability to work with a diverse population of high school students with a student-centered and developmental approach

Master’s or advanced degree in History

Establish rapport and empathize with students of low-income and first-generation students

Develop curriculum according to Upward Bound program guidelines for assigned class

A working knowledge of and experience with student learning outcomes and assessment.

Educational experience - breadth and depth

Curriculum Vitae (CV) or Resume - details all relevant education, training, and teaching experience (including courses taught), and other work experience

Experience in teaching students from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and widely varying levels of proficiency preferred.
