Montessori Toddler Classroom Assistant Jobs in New Jersey

Assist in the transportation of children to/from home and the facility and class trips.

Record all entries on flow sheets, charts, and communication books.

Immediately report to RN observance of accidents and incidents.

Immediately report to RN any changes in child’s condition.

Assist the Activities Director with the implementation of the planned activities posted on the activity calendar.

Prepare child for meals (take to bathroom, wash hands, clothing protectors).

Requires a high school/vocational school education or equivalent and some relevant experience working with children.

Some previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities/autism.

Following training must be physically capable of safely providing crisis management techniques including restraining, lifting, and blocking individuals with challenging behavior.

May require a valid driver’s license, two years of driving experience, and successful completion of the Rutgers’ Defensive Driving Course.

The ability to work well with adults with autism who are educationally, physically, and behaviorally challenged.

Required to obtain certification in CPR /First Aid within six months of employment.

An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Previous experience working well with children or adults with autism who are educationally, physically and behaviorally challenged preferred.

Following training must be physically capable of safely providing crisis management techniques including restraining, lifting, blocking individuals with challenging behavior.

Works within the center-based setting, typically a classroom or job site, implementing educational, behavioral, vocational and leisure programming.

Assists in maintaining the daily records and materials for client.

Assists in the routine maintenance and organization of the classroom or work group.
