Overview Memory Care Program Assistants provide support and assistance to individuals with memory impairments, such as Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. They help individuals with daily activities, provide emotional support, and help them to remain as independent as possible. Memory Care Program Assistants may work in a variety of settings, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and memory care units. Detailed Job Description Memory Care Program Assistants provide support and assistance to individuals with memory impairments, such as Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. They help individuals with daily activities, provide emotional support, and help them to remain as independent as possible. Memory Care Program Assistants may work in a variety of settings, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and memory care units. Job Skills Required• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain calm and patient in difficult situations
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of memory impairments and dementia
• Ability to provide emotional support
• Ability to follow instructions and procedures
• Ability to lift and move individuals
• Ability to provide assistance with activities of daily living
Job Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience working with individuals with memory impairments
• Certification in first aid and CPR
• Valid driver’s license
Job Knowledge
• Knowledge of memory impairments and dementia
• Knowledge of activities of daily living
• Knowledge of safety and emergency procedures
• Knowledge of medical terminology
Job Experience
• Previous experience working with individuals with memory impairments
• Previous experience working in a healthcare setting
Job Responsibilities
• Assist individuals with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and eating
• Provide emotional support to individuals and their families
• Monitor individuals for changes in behavior or health
• Assist with medication administration
• Assist with mobility and transfers
• Assist with recreational activities
• Provide assistance with housekeeping tasks
• Report any changes in behavior or health to the appropriate personnel
• Follow safety and emergency procedures
