Overview A Medical Assistant Medical is a healthcare professional who works in a medical office or clinic to provide administrative and clinical support to physicians and other healthcare providers. Medical Assistants Medical are responsible for a variety of tasks, including taking patient histories, preparing patients for examinations, taking vital signs, and assisting with minor medical procedures. Detailed Job Description Medical Assistants Medical are responsible for providing administrative and clinical support to physicians and other healthcare providers. They may be responsible for taking patient histories, preparing patients for examinations, taking vital signs, and assisting with minor medical procedures. Medical Assistants Medical may also be responsible for scheduling appointments, filing medical records, and ordering medical supplies. Additionally, they may be responsible for answering phones, greeting patients, and providing general information about the practice. Job Skills Required Medical Assistants Medical must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as they will be interacting with patients and other healthcare providers on a daily basis. They must also be detail-oriented and organized, as they will be responsible for managing patient records and other administrative tasks. Medical Assistants Medical must also have basic computer skills, as they may be responsible for entering patient information into electronic medical records systems. Job Qualifications Most employers require Medical Assistants Medical to have a high school diploma or equivalent. Some employers may also require Medical Assistants Medical to have a postsecondary certificate or associate degree in medical assisting. Additionally, employers may require Medical Assistants Medical to be certified by a professional organization, such as the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).
