Livestock Ipm Specialist Jobs

Experience detecting health and disease symptoms in cattle

Post-secondary education in agriculture or related field

Basic computer skills working with Microsoft Office

Handle sires of varying ages and sizes in a calm, confident manner for optimum production

Work in a system using established protocols

Perform regular livestock care including feeding, cleaning, moving cattle, assisting with health testing and veterinary treatments, and other routine tasks

Oversee and deliver program requirements related to integrated pest management (IPM) on site;

Collaborate with vendors to bring new knowledge and expertise to IPM team;

Hold, maintain and actively use valid Private Pesticide Applicator's license/certification throughout the duration of the role;

Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative team-based environment;

Operational knowledge of IT (Internet, Microsoft Office, mobile apps, data base platforms);

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, and the ability to listen;

Develop educational materials in support of Livestock IPM, such as webpages, manuals, fact sheets, field guides, videos, websites, apps, etc.

Monitor program to ensure that educational content conforms to policies and objectives of Cornell University.

Conduct applied, integrated research designed to fill IPM knowledge gaps, in cooperation with appropriate faculty and extension field staff, and/or independently.

Identify and report IPM knowledge gaps and information transfer problems.

Participate in professional development opportunities, conferences and workshops appropriate to program and personal skill enhancement.

Provide guidance to IPM extension educators on Livestock IPM implementation and the development of educational materials.
