Lineworker Journeyman Jobs

Receives daily assignments from and is directly responsible to a supervisor

Pre-fields work orders, assembles, constructs, installs, repairs, removes or maintains outside plant copper and fiber facilities and equipment

Drives Company's vehicle to work site; determines field conditions along proposed facility

Utilizes, operates, and maintains all line worker tools and equipment for new, repair, and restoration of service outages

Responsible to maintain, record, correct, and report all work order drawings

Loads, unloads, and transports materials, equipment, to complete employee's daily assignments

Regular attendance that is punctual and dependable is required.

Display honest, trustworthy, and ethical behavior when dealing with internal and external customers.

Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Assist with cleaning vehicles, equipment and City facilities associated with electric lines work.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Advanced applications of electrical theory.

This position works under direct and general supervision of Senior Lineworkers, Electric Distribution Supervisors and the Department Manager.

Basic computer skills to check emails and enter time worked are required.

Successful completion of recommended continuing education classes in leadership, supervisory, or technical related fields.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Salary is dependent upon qualifications)

Installs, removes, inspects, repairs, and maintains overhead/underground electrical lines and related equipment;

Locates and marks underground lines.

Repairs or replaces defective high voltage conductors, insulators and related hardware.

Repairs or replaces all overhead and non-network underground transformers.

Inspects and installs underground vaults, conduit and duct runs; installs new cable and equipment.

Installs streetlight standards, fixtures, relays.

Strings wire and cables for electrical power transmission, distribution or traffic light circuits.

Inspects and troubleshoots electrical systems and equipment to repair malfunctions and restore electrical power.

Must have occupied the position of Line Mechanic-Hot Stick or five years of equivalent Journeyman overhead lineman distribution experience.

Must pass physical abilities exam.

Must pass validated aptitude test.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent

Must have a valid drivers license

Must have a CDL A

$23.35 - $42.05 Depending on Qualifications

Knowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools and layout tools.

Assist with opening switches or attach grounding devices to remove electrical hazards from disturbed or fallen lines or to facilitate repairs.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:

Must become proficient at climbing poles and working at heights.

Assists line crews, utilizing lineworker tools and equipment to set poles and construct transmission lines.

Observes, learns, and performs duties of Lineworker 3/C under direct supervision.

Must be able to read, write, and speak English to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.

Must have high school diploma or equivalent.

Previous line school experience preferred but not required.

Learn to safely operate various types of transmission and distribution equipment i.e., Digger/Derrick flex track, bucket trucks, wire puller/tensioner.

Requires a record of safe driving.

Position requires frequent off-hour call-ins and travel.

Ability to be effective in a diverse and multicultural environment.

Must possess strong working knowledge skills and abilities for position.

Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.

Able to meet all physical requirements.

Climb poles or use truck-mounted buckets to access equipment.

Place insulating or fireproofing materials over conductors and joints.

Assist experienced Linemen as needed

Knowledge of using computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware and software programs, entering data or processing information

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service

Skilled in prioritizing and managing changing priorities

Successful completion of Department of Labor approved Apprenticeship Program requirements for Apprentice Level 1A

Climb poles and work on de-energized poles and lines

Knowledge of business and management principles including strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques and budgeting

Implement corporate and departmental policies, procedures and service standards in conjunction with management

Teach and instruct employees in job duties and company policies Instruct and supervise subordinates in the absence of the Construction/Service Supervisor

Knowledge of using computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware and software programs, entering data or processing information

Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service

Knowledge of principles of electricity, safety practices and codes
