Compile data and conduct general and legal research for legislative committees and individual legislators and present alternative solutions for their consideration;

Draft and edit bills, resolutions, and amendments to implement legislators’ ideas;

Review administrative rules for form, style, and compliance with statutory authority; and

Research and write issue memoranda on selected topics for review by the Legislature and the public.

11. Assists with projects requiring policy and legislative knowledge or experience.

Minimum Education and Experience Required

AHIP is looking for a skillful Legislative and Regulatory Analyst to join their team!

1. Bachelor's Degree in health policy, public policy, or related field and/or equivalent experience.

2. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in legislative or regulatory advocacy, policy development, or research.

• Knowledge of Westlaw or other legal research databases and understanding of membership associations preferred.

Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years of relevant work experience.

Experience working with Congress, including with key committees or policy and advocacy organizations.

Experience developing and cultivating relationships with federal officials, health care groups, and agencies.

Demonstrated skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with diverse audiences.

Experience working as a Legislative Assistant.

Experience working on federal public policy related to older adults’ health, economic security, and community service needs.

Organizational and project management skills essential.

Demonstrated superior written and oral communications skills, attention to detail, and strong copyediting abilities.

3+ years of experience in the legislative affairs, analysis field, department-level planning, or execution.

Experience with preparing leadership for testifying to and meeting with government members and pertinent staff members.

Experience with researching and writing background papers, talking points, and oral and written statements, including legislative briefings to leadership.

Experience with DoD personnel policy organizations and offices.

Possession of excellent written and oral communication skills.

Experience with the Department of Defense and its senior leadership offices

Excellent organizational, interpersonal and time management skills

1-2 years research experience (preferably at a market research firm, agency, or a media owner)

Strong Microsoft Suite skills, PowerPoint in particular

Strong analytical skills, sees inspiration in diving into data

Review data tables, help find data driven insights & stories within the data

Chart and assist with finding creative ways to show quantitative data in Power Point presentations

Strong understanding of U.S. healthcare organization, financing and delivery trends and knowledge of the health policy landscape with healthcare industry experience

2-5+ years of relevant experience in a health services research, health policy research or business research setting

Solid communication, writing and presentation skills; commitment to quality and creativity

Experience analyzing healthcare data to create compelling stories

Skilled at using insights and research to bring stories to life

Demonstrated quantitative and qualitative skills researching and analyzing healthcare issues

Basic computer skills with knowledge of Windows Office products, or demonstrated ability to learn Windows Office products.

Ability to perform well with minimum supervision and increasing responsibilities.

Knowledge of basic office procedures.
