Laser Engineer Jobs in Iowa

Manage installation, qualification and ramp-up of manufacturing equipment including but not limited to laser welding systems.

BS/MS/PhD Degree in Mechanical / Mechatronics Engineering or 6+ years relevant experience

Experience with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software

Experience working with different laser welding tools , materials and vision systems

Strong hands-on experience with high-volume and pilot manufacturing

Develop laser weld processes and qualify them using statistically valid data sets and workflow

You have an Associate Degree in electronics or equivalent combination of education and experience; BSEE/BSEET/BSME/BSMET preferred.

Work in an office/home office and/or remote setting, as well as in a hospital/healthcare environment; adhere to requirements.

You’ve acquired 2+ years of experience in a diagnostic imaging (field or hospital-based) service environment or 4+ years’ in electromechanical industries.

5+ years of related experience is preferred in the medical device service field. imaging laser and/or Optic experience is a plus.

Work flexible hours (based on business needs to include overtime, weekends, and on-call rotations).

Specify, configure, and operate equipment to test remote laser welding.

Manage the design and build of fixturing necessary for laboratory testing.

Develop joining processes to meet product performance requirements.

Manage design, construction and installation of new laser joining systems in assembly plant or metal center.

Knowledge of sheet metal welding and joining processes

Strong interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to brief non-technical audiences, is required.

Experience with beam combining is highly desired.

Experience performing laboratory experiments and evaluating fieldable prototypes.

Five years of professional experience working with lasers, systems.

An MS or Ph.D. in applied physics, optics, optical engineering, physics, or related discipline is required.

Demonstrated expertise in coherent-energy systems (modeling, simulation, and/or implementation and testing) is required.
