Lab Scientist Jobs in Maryland

Attends/Leads mandatory education, training, and in-service meetings specific to department.

Assists with development and modification of procedures and assumes additional responsibilities when appropriate.

Proficient knowledge of clinical laboratory processes, analytical procedures, and various laboratory equipment including routine maintenance and calibration.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to perform basic computer skills which would be used in a laboratory setting.

Independently troubleshoots and resolves problems and documents corrective actions.

Provides orientation and training to new employees in the assigned laboratory sections. Attends continuing education sessions as required.

Education: Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, basic sciences or related field required or completion of Military Laboratory Technician program.

Performs routine and specialized laboratory testing in their assigned specialty area following all standard operating procedures.

Calibrates instruments; performs and documents preventative and corrective maintenance on instruments and equipment

Prior work experience not required Required

ASCP - Medical Technologist ASCP certification preferred. Preferred

Associate's degree from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program Required or

60 semester hours including 24 semester hours of medical lab technology, Required or

3 months training in each specialty in which high complexity testing is performed. Required
