Housing Development Specialist Jobs in Virginia

Distributes information to the community and increases public knowledge of the work of MRS through multiple sources.

Strong presentation and advocacy skills.

Conducts outreach to potential landlords for housing.

Maintains databases landlords/housing options in various geographic regions of the service area.

Assists in developing relationships with current landlords and facilitating communication about MRS services to landlords.

Responsible for assisting with informational presentations to landlords/potential landlords.

Essential Functions, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Monitor status of waiting lists for subsidized housing and inform all relevant case managers of opportunities available to clients.

Acknowledge and follow financial policies of the agency.

Regularly engage, support and collaborate with volunteers to provide a meaningful experience.

Considerable knowledge of social, economic and health problems as they related to homeless families.

Knowledge of community and social agencies and resources.

Minimum of the Pay Range

Three (3) years of experience in housing development and finance programs, construction project management, real estate development, or related program areas.

Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Construction Management, Real Estate Development, Finance, or related field; and

Applying extensive knowledge of relevant laws and regulations to manage affordable housing development work and developing policy recommendations;

Knowledge of affordable homeownership programs and finance;

Underwriting loan requests and negotiating loan terms for the County’s Affordable Housing Investment Fund (AHIF), Federal HOME, and/or CDBG programs;

Presenting funding recommendations to the Citizen’s Advisory Commission on Housing and County Board;
