Head Of Chemistry Jobs

Hire, manage and mentor a department of world-class chemists working across multiple multi-disciplinary product development and advanced research teams

Individually and through your team, drive innovations in core chemistries and chemistry processes that enable novel product capabilities and internal capabilities

Contribute to establishment and maintenance of strong lines of communication, knowledge-sharing and collaboration between R&D departments

PhD or proven, significant depth of experience in a core chemistry discipline or a relevant applied chemistry field

Proven ability to manage functional or project-based teams of 10 or more scientists in a matrix environment

A working knowledge of molecular biology assays/protocols, preferably utilizing next-generation sequencing

Coordinating with instructional faculty and course staff to provide a successful and safe instructional experience for undergraduate students

At least 3 years of relevant experience

Strong organizational and leadership skills

Preparing materials (e.g., chemical solutions, buffers, gels)

Setting up and breaking down laboratory spaces for instruction

Ordering and maintaining stockroom supplies

Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills both verbally and in writing.

Assists Laboratory Coordinator in the preparation of weekly course laboratories.

Holds weekly office hours for students.

Follows and monitors safety protocols for a safe laboratory environment during classes.

Works with low levels of solvents and hazardous chemicals.

A minimum of 5 years of R&D leadership experience.

Specific RUO/Life Science Tools experience is highly desirable.

Strong background in surface functionalization methods suitable for biological applications; knowledge of analytical methods for surface characterization.

Product commercialization experience taking a design from research to development and into manufacturing.

Dynamic leader with ability to motivate employees/managers to go the extra mile.

Demonstrates highly effective communication, problem-solving skills and thought leadership in a highly professional manner.
