Projected to graduate (or already graduated) from an accredited College/University and/or have less than 12 months of RN experience.

The Nurse Residency Program goals support the Nurse Resident to:

Transition successfully to a competent practitioner

Provide clinical nursing leadership when administering care

Incorporate research-based evidence into practice

Required Education: Nursing Degree from an accredited school

Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association.

Prior work experience not required.

Ability to perform nursing technologies under supervision. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to set priorities and work under stress.

University transcript (Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA preferred)

Two Clinical Faculty Reference letters, on official university letterhead or our official form

Professional Reference (if you have worked as a Nurse Technician/Extern/CNA/Care Partner)

Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs)

Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization

Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time.

Provide professional nursing care for patient(s) and respective family according to established standards and practices.

Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines

Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures

Ability to use Microsoft Excel, Word and have basic computer operational knowledge. Epic and 3M experience preferred.

6 months or less of RN experience

Additional certifications may be required within six months, please see below.

ACLS certification required within 12 months of start date

NIHSS certification required within 12 months of start date

Graduate of an accredited/approved school of nursing

Registered Nurses (RN) with less than 12 months of full-time RN experience (less than 2,080 hours) by hire date.

Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification

Orientation to the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics (UMHC) system, nursing department, standards of care, and clinical skills.

Monthly education sessions that address leadership, patient outcomes, and professionalism.

Graduation ceremony to acknowledge the nurses' accomplishments as they transition to their professional role.

Students graduating July/August 2023 are eligible to apply with pending Florida Registered Nurse License or ATT Letter.

Continuing education and ongoing enhancement of professional development.

Recognition of the effects of skilled nursing practice on patient safety, quality and satisfaction.

Requirement to sign contractual payback agreement for work commitment of up to three (3) years after probation ends

A preceptor and relationship-guided new graduate transition program.

An understanding and application of professional accountability and ethical practice inherent in the role of the registered nurse.
