Food Supervisor Jobs in California

Accounts for and secures all equipment and food supplies; prepares and keeps records and reports on work and food preparation activities.

Inspects and insures that kitchen equipment is maintained and operated according to safety procedures.

Trains employees in the operation of kitchen equipment, sanitation, food preparation, and security procedures.

Participates in design of new kitchen facilities; performs duties of a cook and works rotating shifts as needed.

Knowledge of supply management, inventory ordering, and budgeting.

Demonstrated knowledge of catering and food service.

Experience working in fast-paced, high-volume restaurant environment.

Knowledge of standard food handling and sanitation procedures.

Presents oneself professionally, in line with higher education environment.

Experience training, supervising, and developing employees.

Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience is preferred.

Supervise inmate labor and/or team members in the kitchen during food prep and food service shifts in the kitchen.

Ensure that all food is stored properly and in sanitary manner.

Serve food during planned meal schedules and according to department policies and procedures.

Follow all food safety regulations pertaining to sanitation, food handling and storage.

Complete all required activities as defined by the Food Safety & Quality Assurance Manager.

Assure adequate staffing by working with the FSQA Manager to evaluate new hires, and conducting performance evaluations of the FSQA staff.

Develop, implement, manage programs and food safety staff that maintain and optimize the facilities quality and food safety focus.

Be available to work different shifts as required by the FSQA Manager.

Knowledgeable of proper handling of all products and able to develop new policies and procedures to improve quality and operational efficiencies.

Position Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Prior experience facilitating team building, engagement and change management workshops or training.

Supervisory or leadership experience in food service.

Experience with staff development and training.

Experience working with food safety auditors and food safety regulations.

Work experience with plate presentation, merchandising and/or quality control.

Customer service experience working directly with customers.

Education: Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent (GED or High School Proficiency Examination); AND
