Read and interpret technical data

Make required work order entries for discrepancies and corrective actions

Mechanical ability to execute per technical data

Parts identification, read and interpret IPC

Remove and install aircraft panels.

Basic operational and functional checks

Must possess a basic knowledge of plumbing, electricity, maintenance of steam and mechanical equipment; and

Working experience performing service or maintenance in a large facility (examples: residence hall, apartment complex, hospital, school, etc.)

Valid driver’s license and the ability to meet the UI Fleet Safety Driving Records Review Standards.

Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively in a diverse environment.

Classification Title: Facilities Mechanic III

Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and speak English fluently

Demonstrated intermediate mechanical and basic mathematical skills

Effective listening skills, including the ability to interpret, document, and follow oral instructions

Operates out of company supplied service truck with crane

Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections & diagnostics, identifying worn & damaged parts, fluid levels, etc.

Uses the City’s computerized fleet management system to record labor, material and equipment utilized in making repairs.

Performs highly skilled work in the repair and adjustment of equipment when difficult or unusual problems are encountered.

Rebuilds engines, transmissions, rear-end assemblies, differentials, carburetors, and related components. Tests rebuilt units for proper operation.

Adjusts and repairs front and rear wheel and/or multi-wheel drive vehicles and installs, adjusts or repairs air- conditioning systems

Makes decisions on repairs by scheduling "down time" for equipment and coordinating with operators for repair time.

Performs emergency road service; performs service and repairs on stormwater pump station pumps and engines and related control mechanisms.

Previous mechanic and/or equipment service experience

Education in mechanics, electrical or hydraulic systems

Strong interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills

Develop basic computer skills with Microsoft office

Strong in spirit and industry knowledge, Altec mechanics are the best in the industry.
