Fall Animal Care Technician Jobs

One year of laboratory animal experience and certification as an AALAS Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician

Solid analytical skills and attention to detail

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

High school diploma or equivalent and two years of animal husbandry or related animal care experience

Ability to multi-task, and prioritize work assignments

Ability to maintain confidentiality in all work performed

Verbal and written communication skills for reading and following instructions, and for engaging in business discussions

American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AAALAS) certification

Perform daily husbandry for laboratory animals, including handling, feeding, watering, changing cages and monitoring heath of laboratory animals

Follow standard operating procedures and maintain compliance with applicable laws and regulations

Assist with cage wash and autoclave operation and sanitizes areas and/or equipment

High school diploma or equivalency

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:

Criminal History Screening, Education/Degree/Certifications Verification, Social Security Number Trace, and Sex Offender Registry Search

Ability to perform within a team-oriented work environment.

Ability to work weekends and holidays based upon a rotation schedule.

Certified by the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) as an Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT)

Will this job require the employee to work on site?

Maintain and organize (5S, lean management) laboratory spaces for success of research

AALAS certification at the ALAT level

Animal care or production experience in at least one setting: laboratory, veterinary, boarding, agriculture, factory, or other settings

In vivo rodent skills including handling and sample collections

Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills

Basic commutation skills in Outlook, Excel, and Word plus the ability to fill online forms

A high school level of education and the ability to read and understand written instructions. No Prior experience required

The analytical skills to gather and interpret data in situations in which the information or problems are relatively routine

Cleaning and sanitizing of the animal cages and equipment.

Assembling clean cages including clean food and water for the animals

Operating equipment such as tunnel washers, cage washers, bottle washers and autoclaves
