Environmental Justice And Climate Equity Coordinator Jobs

Minimum 3 years of people management experience

Essential working knowledge of the NYS Environmental Justice Community and Advocacy goals. Experience working with community groups.

Problem solving skills and ability to be creative about leveraging companywide expertise.

Bachelor’s degree in political science, environmental science, engineering, business, public relations, communications, finance, economics, or related field

Minimum 7 years of related experience. Community organization experience desirable.

Experience in the energy industry

Strong editing, writing, proofreading and digital file management skills.

Data entry and data management:

An advanced degree in related fields may substitute for one year of work experience; OR

Reports to: Environmental Justice Director

Hours: Full Time Role (typically: Mon to Fri / some weekends may be required)

Excellent “people skills” and a track record of using said skills in prior capacities.

Strong social networks in, and knowledge of, Detroit and/or SE Michigan; work in Metro Detroit is a plus.

● Develop and conduct training and workshops that help cultivate the leadership skills of community residents.

● Knowledge and interest in environmental health issues in Michigan a plus

● Knowledge about environmental justice and/or air quality issues is a plus

Salary range: $55K - $70K commensurate with experience.

At least two years of experience with adult learning design, and best practices in adult education and training required.

Demonstrated experience in building community (could be any form).

Experience in environmental or nonprofit organizations required.

Understanding of, and ability to manage for, justice, equity, inclusion, privilege, and power dynamics among groups.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to independently develop solutions and problem solve in ambiguous or unfamiliar situations.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, both verbally and in writing.

Demonstrated skills in data and project management

Demonstrated experience in one of more of the following fields: environmental and/or biodiversity modelling, statistics and economics modelling, supply-chain modelling, commodities

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Experience translating analytical information for non-specialist audiences

5+ years of relevant technical and industry experience. Leadership of complex projects is a plus

Proven experience managing analytical project teams

At least one year of supervisory experience

The proven ability to lead, inspire, and convey knowledge to others and to work effectively with a wide range of colleagues

Strong editing skills, both for long-form stories and quick-turn stories written on deadline

The ability to connect with and understand diverse audiences

An understanding of news analytics and metrics on reader habits

Comfort with a job that will be demanding, fast-paced, constantly evolving and outcome-oriented

Project management experience, with excellent attention to detail.

Experience with database management, including Access and Excel.

Strong communication and writing skills are essential.

Experience in writing and communication.

Awareness of, or experience with, Environmental Justice principles, resources, and fielding inquiries from the public.
