Overview Electric Department Lineman Apprentice is a position responsible for assisting in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical power lines and equipment. The apprentice will work under the direct supervision of a journeyman lineman and will be responsible for learning the necessary skills to become a journeyman lineman. Detailed Job Description The Electric Department Lineman Apprentice will assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical power lines and equipment. This includes installing, maintaining, and repairing overhead and underground power lines, poles, and other related equipment. The apprentice will also assist in the installation of transformers, switchgear, and other electrical equipment. The apprentice will be responsible for learning the necessary skills to become a journeyman lineman, including the use of specialized tools and equipment, safety procedures, and electrical theory. Job Skills Required• Knowledge of electrical theory and safety procedures
• Ability to use specialized tools and equipment
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks in a timely manner
• Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions
• Ability to climb poles and work at heights
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects
Job Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to pass a background check and drug test
• Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions

Job Knowledge
• Knowledge of electrical theory and safety procedures
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code
• Knowledge of the installation and maintenance of overhead and underground power lines
• Knowledge of the installation and maintenance of transformers, switchgear, and other electrical equipment
Job Experience
• Previous experience in the electrical field is preferred
• Previous experience in the installation and maintenance of overhead and underground power lines is preferred
