Utilize Dock Yard Management System to consistently monitor freight shipment locations throughout the service center.

Counts, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on control copy and manifest.

Loads truck for local drivers.

Lifts heavy objects by hand or with pallet jacks or hand trucks and cleans work area.

Provide constant feedback to Operations Manager or supervisor on specific freight handling characteristics in support of Ward's CBS system.

Must be able to read and write, complete company and governmental forms, and understand written company policies and governmental regulations.

Must be able to work the required hours.

Must participate in random drug testing of all non-DOT employees.

Specific physical demands include, but are not limited to:

Carrying: Occasional, up to 50 lbs., up to 40 feet

Assists the supervisor for capturing and loading due freight.

Monitors the loading quality of all trailers.

Helps the supervisor to ensure that all load out cut times are being met.

High School Diploma or General Educational Degree (GED), or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background

Experience in the transportation industry preferred

Prior operation of a forklift or previous forklift certification preferred

Properly load and unload freight using a forklift, pallet jack, hand truck or by hand

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Regularly required to manage a number of tasks at one time.

Dispense propane and fill propane bottles.

Assist customers inside the store with parts and products

First Shift ( Monday through Friday from 08:00am to 04:30pm )

Operate pallet jacks and sit down forklift

Team player with a high level of energy and self-motivation.

Applicant may be subject to a background check

Pre-employment drug screen is required as a condition of employment

How will you impact our mission?

Third Shift ( Tuesday through Saturday from 12:00am to 08:00am )

Manually unload boxes and product from inbound trailers

Use pallet jacks, carts and RF Scan Guns,

Palletize and wrap boxes and product for shipment

Operate forklift to load and unload product to and from trailers

Must be able to lift 50 lbs on a repetitive basis

Communicates nightly with Circulation Manager, Delivery Managers, other dock workers and carriers

Sorts carts and newspapers to give to independent contractors

Able to drive 26' box truck

All other duties as assigned

Able to read, write and speak English at a level that allows them to perform the essential function of the position.

Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds repeatedly
