Dock Worker (Part-Time) Jobs

Description

The Victoria Advocate is seeking a part-time Dock Worker (25 to 29 hours per week) to help ensure newspaper carriers receive the correct number of newspapers and proper delivery instructions to effectively deliver their routes. Dock Worker must be available nights, weekends and holidays. The hours worked are generally 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. and the days worked rotate.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities

• Sorts carts and newspapers to give to independent contractors
• Communicates nightly with Circulation Manager, Delivery Managers, other dock workers and carriers
• Processes nightly circulation paperwork
• Sorts mail bags
• All other duties as assigned
• Able to drive 26' box truck

Must be dependable with an excellent history of attendance.

Language Skills

• Able to read, write and speak English at a level that allows them to perform the essential function of the position.

Physical Demands

• Able to see, hear, speak and distinguish colors
• Stand on feet for more than 4 hours at a time
• The noise level varies from moderate to loud.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds repeatedly
• Twist, bend and lift
• This position works in both internal and outdoor environments and is exposed to various weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
• This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as a computer, phone, printer/scanner, and filing cabinets.
