Overview A Disaster Program Specialist is responsible for providing support to communities affected by natural disasters. They are responsible for coordinating relief efforts, providing assistance to those affected, and helping to rebuild communities. They must be knowledgeable about disaster preparedness, response, and recovery, and be able to work with a variety of stakeholders to ensure the best possible outcomes. Detailed Job Description A Disaster Program Specialist is responsible for providing support to communities affected by natural disasters. They are responsible for coordinating relief efforts, providing assistance to those affected, and helping to rebuild communities. They must be knowledgeable about disaster preparedness, response, and recovery, and be able to work with a variety of stakeholders to ensure the best possible outcomes. They must be able to assess the needs of the affected community, develop plans to address those needs, and coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure that resources are allocated appropriately. They must also be able to provide technical assistance to local organizations and individuals, and be able to develop and implement training programs to help communities prepare for future disasters. Job Skill Requirements
• Knowledge of disaster preparedness, response, and recovery
• Ability to assess the needs of affected communities
• Ability to develop and implement plans to address those needs
• Ability to coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies
• Ability to provide technical assistance to local organizations and individuals

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, public administration, or a related field
• At least two years of experience in disaster response and recovery
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal disaster response and recovery programs
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
