Overview A Direct Service Worker is a professional who provides direct care and support to individuals with disabilities, mental health issues, or other special needs. This may include providing assistance with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and eating, as well as providing emotional support and guidance. Direct Service Workers may also provide transportation, recreational activities, and other services to help individuals reach their goals. Detailed Job Description Direct Service Workers are responsible for providing direct care and support to individuals with disabilities, mental health issues, or other special needs. This may include providing assistance with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and eating, as well as providing emotional support and guidance. Direct Service Workers may also provide transportation, recreational activities, and other services to help individuals reach their goals. They may also be responsible for monitoring the health and safety of the individuals they are working with, as well as providing assistance with medical appointments and other activities. Job Skills Required• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks in a timely manner
• Ability to handle difficult situations in a professional manner
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Knowledge of safety protocols
• Knowledge of basic first aid
Job Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license
• CPR and First Aid certification
• Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities, mental health issues, or other special needs
• Ability to pass a background check
