Graduate of an accredited program and 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant

Basic computer skills and good typing skills with accuracy and attention to detail

It is anticipated that the employee will have contact with blood or other potentially infectious materials while performing their job duties.

Physical And Mental Requirements / Conditions

5-7 years administrative/management experience required, preferably in an academic hospital setting.

Assists in fundraising efforts for research, education, and clinical activities. Monitors donations and acknowledgements.

Provides managerial and administrative oversight of all physician extenders assigned to the Division.

High degree of analytic ability to manage the financial and human resources aspects of the position.

Excellent negotiation skills in complex and often sensitive multi-institutional negotiations for agreements and contracts for research, training, and clinical practice.

Current knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to research administration. Ability to interpret, analyze, and disseminate critical information to Division faculty.

Demonstrates knowledge of relevant hospital specimen collection processes and locations and transport procedures.

Previous laboratory experience, medical assistant, phlebotomy, or anesthesia technician experience preferred

Transports specimens within Perioperative Services to the appropriate department.

Receives and responds to assignments from supervisor following established protocols.

Receives specimens from patient care areas and transports to the appropriate department.

Maintains sample integrity according to established procedures

Has obtained a Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA, CCMA, RMA, NCMA) * Must be obtained within 6 months of employment.*

Certification required upon hire and maintained if not a graduate of an accredited medical assistant program.

Achieves and maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association, within 90 days of hire.
