We are looking for dedicated, enthusiastic individuals to work as Camp Counselors

Create a safe and fun experience for a group of children

Previous experience as a camp counselor or in a similar position is not required

Experience with clubs, activities or sports in or out of school

Willingness to participate in games, sports, and other outdoor activities

Monitor campers and escort them to various activities

Assist with lunch, special events and weekly activities

Ability to address camp-wide behavior management issues

Behavioral support training/experience working with students in a school or recreational setting

Ability to interact, support and communicate clearly with children and adults.

Organized, caring, proactive, creative, flexible problem-solver with the desire and passion to help

21 years of age and up

Works with MESH/ Camp Directors to develop behavior strategies for all campers to be successful and safe at camp

Review and update program for age appropriate learning and management of appropriate behavior of horses given each horse’s temperament and ability

Being knowledgeable of all programs and activities

Assisting with Check In/Check Out and managerial operations

Assess the skill level of each camper in order to match him or her with the appropriate horse for riding

Has the ability to maintain confidentiality, maintain appropriate records and carry out job responsibilities in a timely manner

Be certified in First Aid and CPR, with Life Guarding preferred (we can do certifications)

Adhere to policies as stated in the YMCA Camp Policies and Procedures Manual and in subsequent YMCA trainings and meetings

Attend staff meetings and trainings as they arise

Work in a team environment and encourage open communication regarding concerns/issues with children, parents or co-workers.

Initiate and maintain positive relationships with all camp staff while communicating with the Camp Director, Counselors, and Coordinators as needed
