5+ Years of Loss Prevention / Asset Protection Investigative experience

2+ Years of Organized Retail Crime Investigative experience.

ORC certifications and/or training class completion

Three (3) years of law enforcement or investigative support experience with a municipal, county, state, or federal regulatory agency.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

High school diploma or GED.

Valid driver’s license with good driving record.

Must pass extensive background investigation.

Must pass polygraph and drug screening.

Experience/familiarity with computers, Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel), business e-mail communication systems and internet search capabilities

Promote community awareness of interpersonal violence and substance abuse as community problems and community responsibilities to prevent

Ability to track and manage time effectively

Lived experience with some of the challenges to well-being in the community

Ensure a person-centered response and access to community resources

Host community awareness and outreach activities

Follows up with victims providing resources, support, information, crisis intervention, knowledge of victim's rights, and case status updates.

Requires two years crime victim liaison or closely related experience

Provides contact and follow up on all domestic violence and crimes against persons cases.

Provides emotional support and crisis intervention to victims of violent crime in person or by telephone and at the crime scene.

Gathers information from detectives or officers to provide an update for the victim and assist in obtaining information from the victim.

Coordinates between department and prosecuting agencies.

Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Provide technical project management support

Work alongside the Commanding Officer of the CIU to plan, organize, control, manage, and evaluate the work of the CIU

Ensures the completeness, accuracy, and timely submission of reports and data entry

Manage all grant-related activity, including seeking new grants, coordinating purchases, and submitting reports

Manager Open Data Portal and accessory websites using public data

Thorough knowledge of project management tools

Compares and determines associations and frequency of events;

Prepares daily, weekly, monthly and annual statistical reports.

Identify, summarize and report significant trends and patterns indicated by data; make recommendations for addressing criminal activity trends to department management.

Create and manage charts including association matrices and timelines using Analyst Notebook.

Thoroughly analyze research material to identify critical intelligence leads in the investigation and links to other investigations.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Submits updated crime information to the command staff on serious crime and crime patterns in a timely manner.

Composes concise but comprehensive reports of findings to police personnel, outside agencies and members of the community.

Responds to ad hoc requests for reports and/or analysis to support CID staff and other police personnel.

Coordinates with outside law enforcement agencies to exchange data to assist with cross-jurisdictional crimes.

Acquire and enhance understanding of product knowledge and customer requirements for personal and career development.

Present and discuss innovative ideas on product improvements and enhancements to manager for incorporation into new and existing products.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Crime / Data Analysis

Knowledge of standard crime analysis software, products and procedures. Accurint preferred.

Knowledge of LexisNexis products and procedures a plus

Organization and analytical skills a must

One year of increasingly complex full-time administrative and analytical experience and

Or three years of increasingly complex full-time administrative and analytical experience and

Experience in law enforcement records or court experience.

International Association of Crime Analysis Certification.

An associate of arts degree from an accredited college or university.

Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Driver License.

Provides direct support to ongoing investigations by providing case management assistance, investigative analysis, and critical front-line intelligence support.

Must be highly capable and will need to perform all the duties and responsibilities of a DCSO Crime Analyst (E410/4126E).

Identifies and coordinates analyst training to enhance analytical skillsets.

Ensures analysts have a working knowledge of the various analytical software programs and systems.

One (1) year of supervisory experience in a law enforcement role is preferred.

Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
