Climate Data Scientist Jobs

5+ years of experience in developing data-intensive algorithms and process models for earth science applications

Experience in working with a range of hydro-meteorological datasets, global climate model outputs, digital terrain data, and other geospatial datasets

Excellent software skills including programming in R or Python, and hydrologic modeling software such as HEC-HMS and VIC

· Experience with satellite visible/infrared cloud retrievals and familiarity with ARM ground-based observations of clouds and aerosols.

· Experience with scientific data processing platform such as Python, IDL, or MATLAB.

· The researcher is expected to provide monthly updates documenting progress and project status.

· MS or PhD in Atmospheric Sciences, Climate sciences, Physics, or related fields.

Deep experience instead of proficiency in any or all of the above tools

Geospatial tools: GDAL, geopandas, rasterio, xarray

GIS: ArcGIS Pro or similar

9+ years practical experience in greenhouse gas accounting, methods, data collection and management, data integrity controls, disclosure and verification.

Collection, storage, and management of energy, spend, vendor data from across the company and suppliers.

Manage mandatory reporting process with Financial Reporting and Corporate Finance in relevant countries

5+ years of managerial experience

Together with Internal Audit and Finance, continuous improvement of internal processes, controls, and governance related to carbon footprint data.

Master’s degree or equivalent practical technical, quantitative, or project experience in the sustainability field.

Skill in assessing the technical capabilities of individuals and matching individuals with tasks.

Knowledge of urban scale atmospheric modeling and some skill in processing and evaluation of experimental data sets.

Knowledge of advanced computational fluid dynamic models and atmospheric modeling applications.

Experience testing and running numerical models on Leadership class computing facilities.

Skill in evaluating model results compared to observations and extracting scientific insight from the comparisons.

Knowledge of atmospheric turbulence, atmospheric boundary layer processes.

Knowledge of and experience investigating air transport and dispersion of emissions from air pollutant sources.
