Your role at GEI.


GEI is expanding its Sacramento Office. We seek an outstanding, dedicated professional with a background in conducting climate change analyses and developing data-centric applications for hydrology, infrastructure resilience, and other planning applications to augment our existing climate services group. GEI is a privately held, mid-sized, award-winning consulting firm with over twenty offices throughout the United States.


Essential Responsibilities & Duties


  • Lead implementation of physically based and machine learning models for predicting short, medium and long-range impacts of climate on complex system planning and operations
  • Conduct studies to document impacts of climate change, characterize flood and drought hazards, develop water resources plans, and enhance infrastructure resilience
  • Support practice leaders in business development activities, managing execution of work, managing client relationships, and mentoring team members.
  • Communicate findings through a variety of technical documents including client reports, agency plans, conference publications, and oral presentations to stakeholders
  • Serve as the climate change subject matter expert on multi-disciplinary project teams of internal and external clients in the water sector


Minimum Qualifications


  • 5+ years of experience in developing data-intensive algorithms and process models for earth science applications
  • Excellent software skills including programming in R or Python, and hydrologic modeling software such as HEC-HMS and VIC
  • Experience in working with a range of hydro-meteorological datasets, global climate model outputs, digital terrain data, and other geospatial datasets
  • M.S. or Ph.D. in engineering, earth sciences, geography, or similar applied science field
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
