Cable Service Technician Jobs in Texas

Support and installation of building infrastructure cable requirements.

Minimum 1 - 2 years of experience installing and maintaining site cable infrastructure required

Must have demonstrated skills in basic cable termination, frame jumper connection, site surveys, and update cable records.

Experience with structured cabling standards for inside and outside plants.

Basic Telcom skills/tools, know the color code and how to punch down a 66 and 110 block.

Maintain cable systems by installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and upgrade of cable infrastructure.

At least Class 1 soldering skills – certification a plus

1 year of experience in hands-on technical equipment assembly

Experience with electrical and/or mechanical systems

Experience working with chemicals or in a hazardous environment a plus

Multi-conductor cable assembly, wire harness assembly

Perform informal, in-process self-checks on manufactured items to assist in formal inspection and/or test

Make and complete splices in various types of communication cables

Review and analyze complex schematic drawings

Use electrical test instruments to determine defective wire or fiber

Repair and maintain outside cable facilities

May climb ladders and poles (minimum 18ft) or operate hydraulic aerial lifts mounted on trucks

Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills

Solid experience of Microsoft Office suite; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Strong communication skills; e.g. report writing, customer service

Testing/interfacing and fault finding of cables

Creation of accurate test documents

Trained on cold pour molds and molding machines

Reading and interpreting vendor specifications for optic and electronic equipment. Identifying and meeting individual customer requirements on provisioning and/or repair contacts.

Basic computer skills, working with customers’ computer and equipment.

Receiving work assignments from supervisor, other designated employees, or a lap top computer.

Locating and clearing troubles in outside plant facilities (copper and/or fiber).

Determine air flow and pressure in cables – aerial and underground. Preparing cables for pressurization and maintaining cable pressure.

Using test equipment to check for gas in manholes and may have to empty water from manholes.
