Arborist Technician Jobs in Iowa

Dependable performance in terms of attendance, acceptance of assignments, and strict adherence to all safety policies and requirements

Preferred 3 years’ experience in arboriculture that includes lead worker or supervisory positions

Current International Society of Arborist certification required

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Perform all functions of tree trimming, maintenance and removals.

Select proper tools for each task.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Makes recommendations for programs providing pesticide, or organic land management strategies.

Plans comprehensive vegetation management plans for parks and open spaces maintenance crews.

Special Licenses/Certifications AND/OR Supplemental Information

Develops long term programs for City tree planting and related landscape projects in Parks and City public Spaces.

Prepares schedules and programs for development and progressive maintenance of landscaped areas, including landscape restoration projects.

Inspects and confirms certification on tree conditions conducted by private Arborists.

Maintains up to date knowledge of all applicable codes and ordinances.

Specific License or Certification Required:

Pay range: $50,255 - $80,911

Reviews tree preservation; and plans for new projects.

Investigates proposed development sites for tree preservation.

Performs a variety of technical tasks in the maintenance, preservation, and removal of the City's boulevard and park trees.

Recognizes and identifies trees, tree diseases, and pests; completes visual inspections of trees and their canopy.

Maintains grounds and buildings; maintains work areas in a neat, orderly, and quality manner; responsible for site clean-up.

Completes required documentation either manually or electronically including forms, records, and daily reports that are complete, accurate, clear and timely.

Utilizes the appropriate Work Management System to manage workload and budget.

Reviews monthly variance to determine effectiveness of vegetation management operations, identify problem areas and validate data.

Manages contractor crew activities including analyzing productivity and effectiveness of work performed.

Bachelor’s degree in Forestry or Arboriculture, related discipline or equivalent experience

Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in utility forestry/arboriculture or equivalent experience in related disciplines

Establishes prioritized schedules to perform work within budget guidelines.
