Records the completion of assigned tasks using the electronic task management system.

Changes animal cages (primarily mouse cages) as scheduled.

Performs routine rodent weanings and separations.

Ensures cleanliness and sanitation of animal housing and ancillary areas.

Ensures equipment is cleaned, and made available for sanitization on the established schedule.

Reports problems to team leader or supervisor.

Performs data entry and maintains electronic documentation files

Reports directly to – Administrative Manager

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

One (1) year of administrative experience, preferably in a customer-service role

One (1) year cash-handling experience

Three (3) years of administrative experience, preferably in a customer service role

The City offers voluntary enrollment in Long Term Disability. Rates and coverage amounts vary.

Answers telephone, routes county calls, and dispatches and receives calls via two-way radio.

Assists the public with complaints regarding wildlife. Processes wildlife permits, animal adoptions, and receives animals.

Maintains animal inventory from impoundments through disposition. Notifies animal owners of impoundments and schedules rabies vaccinations for impounded/adopted animals.

Performs rabies investigations, including taking bite reports and following up on bite incidents through quarantine.

Processes rabies testing specimen paperwork and tracks through end result.

Oversees the management and operations of all CCM animal facilities, facilities in affiliated owned space, satellites, and animal care staff.

Produces regular reports of animal population and other colony related data for executive management.

Certification by AALAS at the CMAR (Certified Manager of Animal Resources) level.

Eleven years of directly related experience with four years of supervisory experience.

Master’s degree and at least seven years of directly related experience with four years of supervisory experience.

Knowledge of and expertise with in-vivo techniques for research.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge and experience working with database and spreadsheet software.

Working knowledge of basic regulatory requirements for research/teaching/testing involving animals.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

General knowledge of biomedical terminology, biomedical procedures, molecular biology terminology and/or general animal husbandry.
