Overview Afterschool counselors provide guidance and support to children and adolescents in afterschool programs. They are responsible for creating a safe and positive environment for students to learn and grow. They may also provide academic support, recreational activities, and social and emotional support. Detailed Job Description Afterschool counselors are responsible for creating and maintaining a safe and positive environment for students in afterschool programs. They must be able to develop and implement activities that are appropriate for the age and abilities of the students. They must also be able to monitor and supervise students, ensuring their safety and well-being. Afterschool counselors must be able to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff. They must also be able to work with diverse populations and be able to recognize and respond to signs of distress or potential danger. • Knowledge of child development

Job Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, or a related field
• Experience working with children and adolescents
• Certification in first aid and CPR
• Valid driver’s license
