Adoption Recertification Specialist Jobs

Determines priority of eligible applicants for housing selection and coordinates applicant placement with housing managers.

Prepares and mails application for continued occupancy to residents with reasonable written notice of actions needed to complete their recertification timely;

Prepares recommendations for improvement or correction of deficient recertification activities;

Review, approve and reject applications for housing based on federal and agency regulations;

Counsels' prospective tenants on the policies and procedures relative to obtaining and maintaining a unit.

Determines residents who qualify for Earned Income Disregard (EID) exclusions;

Experience with Yardi or another property management software is a plus.

Experience in the recertification process and related regulations of affordable housing programs (Section 8 & LIHTC) is required.

COS or equivalent certification is preferred.

We are looking for someone with great communication skills and a strong customer service philosophy.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is required.

Manage Adoptions e-mail inboxes and phone lines to answer questions about available animals, schedule meet & greets, and provide support.

Advise new owners of pet examinations, adoption benefits, policies and procedures.

Education or courses in animal behavior and training principle

At least 3 years’ experience of animal handling and training, preferably in a shelter environment

Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word)

Knowledge of city ordinances and state laws as it relates to animal control

Computer Skills – ability to learn shelter database, accurately update and maintain records. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

Strong customer services skills are required.

A minimum of one (1) years’ work experience in animal care or a related field and in a team environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Salary is dependent upon qualifications)

Greets and assists customers in meeting pets that will be appropriate for their home environment.

Objectively reviews adoption applications for approval or denial, processes approved adoption transactions, including responsible money handling.

Review list of annual recertifications not returned to ACS

Follow-up with the adoptive families that do not respond to the annual recertification letter by phone, letter or email.

Sending out Replacement recertifications to families.

Responsible for scanning the returned recertifications into EDMS.

FPS will monitor the number of families responding to adoption subsidy recertification letters.
