Job Title – Financial Analyst I

Location - Frisco TX, Overland PK, or Bellevue WA

Bachelor’s Degree required. Preferred areas of study include Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Economics.

3+ years of relevant work experience

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong communication and presentation skills.

Experience with SAP is desirable

Experience with Tableau and working with large data sets is preferred

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Provides budget, forecast and variance analysis and related reports as needed.

Conducts financial research, analyzes financial performance against objectives and determines emerging financial trends.

Provides rationale behind reports and analysis and relays them in simple terms.

Creates and maintains statistical/financial databases and reports. Runs appropriate weekly, monthly and annual reports.

Performs additional Business Operations duties and tasks as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Bachelor’s degree in business related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Two years of related experience in accounting, finance and/or analytical services

Higher Education experience, and familiarity with Canopy, AggieBuy, Concur, AiM

Educational release time and tuition assistance for completing a degree while a Texas A&M employee

Strong knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications

Complete assigned, less complex projects accurately and efficiently, within preset timelines, and regularly report status to supervisor and project manager.

Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Computer Science or related field, or (4) years of work experience. (Required)

Previous actuarial experience is preferred.

Knowledge of health insurance concepts and terms.

Experience in health insurance and/or actuarial department.

Knowledge of SQL and other data querying tools.

Knowledge of life insurance and/or annuity products

Specific experience with database software (preferably SQL Server and/or Access)

Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work independently as well as being a team player

Strong coordination, communication, and influencing skills

Create, maintain and update actuarial models for either product development or valuation related work

Prepare or assist in preparing reports and documentation of work product

Draft memos and reports to share insights with management

Coordinate with other departments (e.g., Claims, Accounting) to facilitate reviews and meet reporting requirements

Effectively gather and compile data. Evaluate data to ensure data integrity and identify discrepancies. Complete analysis of data and summarize results

Participate in reserve reviews of non-cat and cat business

Regularly analyze adequacy of initial reserves

Prepare data and reports for our consultants and reinsurance partners

Strong relationship building skills with the ability to be an influential collaborator cross-functionally and with all levels of management.

0 – 2 years minimum finance experience required.

BA/BS Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or equivalent required

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Experience in Excel modeling, variance analysis, interpretation of data and understanding of business drivers to financial results.

Experience in analytical and visualization tools including (but not limited to) Stata, R and Tableau
