Long-term care assumption development, in-force block management, modeling, and product development

Pricing assumption and model methodology review, including benchmarking to applicable industry and peer experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance or a related field

Strong written and oral communication skills

Deep critical-thinking skills and problem-solving ability

Strong skills with MS Excel, MS Access or other database software, VBA or other programming languages

Prior related work experience is preferred but not required.

Relevant computer and software skills (thorough familiarity with Microsoft Office applications).

Key responsibilities include but may not be limited to:

Reviewing and analyzing work products including plan data and financial statements

Providing input to the development of solutions

Creating and updating valuation programs and spreadsheet applications

No prior pension experience is required. This is an entry level position.

Ability to manage own workflow and work independently

Assist in preparation of recurring actuarial valuation and compliance work for qualified retirement plans of assigned clients, including:

Actuarial funding valuations (corporate or public)

Internship experience in actuarial field preferred

Perform experience studies and identify key driver of changes

Comply with internal and external regulatory requirements

Strong oral and written communication skills.

VBA, SQL, Python or other database/programming skills preferred.

Open to remote/virtual location outside of commutable Newark, NJ location.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

Leverage your technical and business skills to solve complex issues through various techniques, including the development and maintenance of actuarial models

Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, or other quantitative field

2+ years of actuarial work experience

Highly detailed oriented with strong analytical problem-solving skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong knowledge of MS Office especially Access and Excel

Complete assigned, less complex projects accurately and efficiently, within preset timelines, and regularly report status to supervisor and project manager.

Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Computer Science or related field, or (4) years of work experience. (Required)

Previous actuarial experience is preferred.

Knowledge of health insurance concepts and terms.

Experience in health insurance and/or actuarial department.

Knowledge of SQL and other data querying tools.

Effectively gather and compile data. Evaluate data to ensure data integrity and identify discrepancies. Complete analysis of data and summarize results

Participate in reserve reviews of non-cat and cat business

Regularly analyze adequacy of initial reserves

Prepare data and reports for our consultants and reinsurance partners
