Job Title:Program Coordinator

Hours:Full-Time, 35-40 hrs/week

Supervisor:Program Director

Compensation:$15/hour

Benefits:Semi-flexible schedule, some work from home, paid time off and

Louisville Youth Group (LYG) is the primary nonprofit serving LGBTQIA+ youth in the Greater Louisville / Kentuckiana region. We provide a brave and affirming space for youth to explore their gender and sexuality, learn life and leadership skills, and develop the tools needed to build community and act as agents of change.

The Program Coordinator, in collaboration with the Program Director, is responsible for thedevelopment, facilitation, and evaluation of LYG programs, as well as recruitment and prioritization of marginalized youth in all of our programs, events, and services. This position communicates regularly with youth, young adults, their caregivers, and community partners. The Program Coordinator will ensure that all youth participants have opportunities and experiences that build life and leadership skills, helping them to feel connected and supported in our community.Black, Indigenous, Latiné and other People of the Global Majority who are Queer and/or Transgender are strongly encouraged to apply.


An ideal candidate will:

Have experience working with youth and young adults (ages 5-24), and people from marginalized racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds

Have a passion for creating courageous and engaging spaces for Queer, Transgender, Black, Indigenous, Latiné, Asian and other youth of the Global Majority

Be comfortable talking in front of large groups

Have experience planning and executing activities and events

Have experience with Google Apps (Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Groups, etc.), Social Media Apps (FB and Instagram), and a willingness to learn new software and technologies

Maintain appropriate boundaries with program participants, staff, parents, and volunteers

Work collaboratively with LYG staff to achieve organizational goals

Identify, communicate, and manage complex social and emotional situations

Be responsible, flexible, hard‐working, ethical, and committed to the mission of LYG


Responsibilities include:

Coordinating and facilitating programs for youth and young adults - Candidates must be available after school, evenings, and occasional weekends

Communicating with parents, mentors, and other community partners

Responding to phone calls, text messages, and emails in a clear and timely manner

Chaperoning specialty programming and field trips

Developing program curriculum, including assessment and improvement to meet emergent needs of the LYG community

Attending individual supervision and staff meetings

Creating flyers, graphics, and e-vites for programs and special events.

Assisting with special events

Serving as a resource speaker and representative of LYG

Participating in professional development and other learning opportunities as they occur

Other duties as assigned
