Optometric Technician Jobs

We are in search of a Full-Time Optometric Technician to work four days a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday) in our Norfolk and Suffolk, VA offices. The Optometric Technician assists the Optometrist by conducting pre-screenings and testing prior to the doctor examination.

The compensation for this position includes a $125.00 per month car allowance.

:

• Maintains a professional atmosphere and appearance of doctor’s office and pretest room.
• Ensures high quality patient care.
• Understands ocular terminology and diseases and knows the ocular abbreviations.
• Promotes visual field testing and retinal screenings to eligible patients.
• Participates in regularly scheduled mandatory communications meetings in order to keep informed of changes in corporate policies and initiatives.
• Maintains accurate and organized patient records.
• Completes necessary paperwork and performs testing on patients prior to doctor examination.
• Fills out referral forms and follow-up paperwork as required.
• Follows all store and corporate policies and procedures.
• Ensures equipment, both Doctor’s and pre-test, is properly maintained.
• Performs exam pre-screening.
• Orders and maintains supplies and pharmaceuticals as directed.
• Explains to the patient the types of preliminary examinations.

Qualifications:

• Strong customer service skills.
• Detailed oriented.
• Able to give instruction in a clear and concise manner to customers.
• Comfortable and experienced with technology - PC's, Web-based applications and MS Office.
• Previous retail/optical experience preferred, but not required.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to learn optical knowledge.
• Multitasking and time-management skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

• Ophthalmology: 1 year (Preferred)
