Join a national organization committed to advancing a movement to race equity and health justice.
Community Catalyst is a leading non-profit national health advocacy organization dedicated to advancing a movement for health equity and justice. We partner with local, state and national advocates to leverage and build power so all people can influence decisions that affect their health. Health systems will not be accountable to people without a fully engaged and organized community voice. That’s why we work every day to ensure people’s interests are represented wherever important decisions about health and health care are made: in communities, state houses and on Capitol Hill. Learn more about our vision for the future in our five-year strategic plan.
Position Summary
Community Catalyst is looking for a Writer and Web Manager to support the day-to-day activities of a growing communications team at a pivotal time for our organization. This person will play an integral role in telling the story of our work and the people who are a part of it by writing, editing and maintaining a body of compelling written material and website content that is reflective of the brand values and voice, as clearly articulated in the organization’s five-year strategic plan.
Community Catalyst just passed an exciting milestone – with an updated brand strategy and new website. This individual will play a central role in ensuring the new brand is implemented effectively with a consistent voice and tone. The ideal candidate has past experience working at a values-led organization or newsroom and can distill complex material into relatable messages that educate and move audiences to action. They should be experienced or comfortable learning how to update and manage an organizational website – and have a perspective on ways to keep web content fresh and engaging.
This person will serve as a core member of a growing, cross-functional communications team, reporting directly to the Digital Director and work in close partnership with the Director of Storytelling and Content (open) as well as the Deputy Director of Communications (recently filled). They will join the organization at an exciting moment in time, following the launch of a new website and brand identity earlier this year, grounded in race equity and health justice.
This position is included in a collective bargaining unit represented by a staff union, Community Catalyst United, and specific employment terms may be subject to a future Collective Bargaining Agreement.
