Job Description

First Pres First Pres is a 3,100 member, 5-generation congregation in the heart of Colorado Springs. We are looking for an individual who will be responsible for planning and leading worship services that are engaging, inspirational, and spiritually up lifting. This includes leading worship music, selecting songs, coordinating with other musicians and vocalists, and overseeing the audio and visual aspects of the worship service. The Worship Leader will also work closely with the Creative Director, Senior Pastor and other staff on the Worship team to create a cohesive and meaningful worship experience for our congregation. Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Along with the Lead Pastor, Creative Director and as a member of the worship team, this position executes weekly worship in the contemporary style.
  • This position continues to develop a leading worship group/band that performs contemporary worship literature with excellence and passion.
  • This position from time to time, may develop, write and arrange music to enhance the understanding of worship themes through new songs or combining existing musical literature into a cohesive music set.
  • This position must have the ability to work with individual musicians and soloists and other creative media as needed from time-to-time depending upon liturgical season or needs of the sermon series.
  • Lead, plan and implement alternate worship gatherings as needed and assigned by Lead Pastor or Creative Director.
  • Seek out opportunities to keep current with contemporary music and worship trends by attending a conference annually and/or seeking out a group of musicians connected with industry-leading ideas.
  • Attend weekly meetings such as weekly worship planning, Staff Chapel and other meetings as scheduled.
  • Lead worship as requested and assigned by the Creative Director including special worship services such as Easter and Christmas Eve and other large group gatherings.
  • Efficiently carry out all administrative duties of the position, including prompt response to correspondence, voice mail and email.
  • Other duties as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Professes Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

  • Hold beliefs consistent with those of First Presbyterian Church.
  • Minimum of three years' experience leading Worship as lead instrumentalist/vocal or part of Christian based contemporary musical setting such as stage, theatre, performance band or similar.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient knowledge of social media and various platforms.
  • Proficiency in multiple instruments with significant skills in either acoustic guitar or keyboard

Significant vocal skills

  • Read and write music, chord charts, guitar tabs and percussion tabs/charts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Comfortable with coaching staff and volunteers, or a willingness to jump in and learn how to coach staff and volunteers on Worship best practices and implementation.
  • Experience creating atmosphere integrating stage design, lighting and sound to create a contemporary worship experience
