Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE The Workforce Development Specialist is a key member of Goodwill of Delaware & Delaware Countys workforce development team. The Specialist is responsible to provide direct services to individuals with disabilities in areas such as career development, skills training, job readiness, vocational evaluations, job coaching, and/or job placement. The Specialist works in collaboration with state agencies, schools, community partners, and natural supports to provide quality services to persons served. The Specialist actively participates in initiatives that showcase the positive impact of workforce development programs and ensures that all position responsibilities are carried out in a manner that supports Goodwills mission and makes a positive difference in the community. This position will require up to 25% of local travel. ____________________________________________________________________________________ ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Conducts vocational and aptitude assessments and provides career exploration and counseling services.
Develops a career pathway plan that connects individuals to wrap-around services, skills training, and employment opportunities.
Provides assistance with completing job applications, resume development, interviewing skills, and other related job search supports.
Contributes to retention of employment through ongoing career counseling/coaching and follow-up services.
Facilitates group lessons focused on customer service and job readiness.
Assists with program evaluation, reporting, and accountability.
Cultivates relationships with assigned employers to find viable job opportunities for people with disabilities and educates employers and partners about the workforce development mission.
Works cooperatively with community partners, funders, and natural supports to develop appropriate service plans for persons served.
Promotes self-reliance and self-sufficiency of persons served through the development of individualized service plans that are based on vocational interest, skills, strengths, and assessed needs.
Provides job coaching services in a 1:1 or group setting with individuals in their work or training environments.
Works cooperatively with business units to establish supportive environments and inclusion standards for persons served.
Enforces safety policies and procedures and ensures safe-working conditions at all worksite locations where individuals have been assigned.
Maintains case records, written reports, and ongoing communication with referring organizations, regulatory agencies, and community partners.
Documents all services provided and enters relevant data into CaseWorthy and other required data systems in a timely manner.
Ensures the accuracy and integrity of all data entered in various data systems.
Maintains strict confidentiality of all sensitive information including but not limited to program information.
Achieves exceptional program outcomes based on established quality standards.
Assists the organization in maintaining compliance with appropriate standards and federal, state, and local regulations.
Works to advance the organizations mission and achieves departmental goals for persons served, placed, and trained, in addition to any other objectives set forth as necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE At least two years of direct experience working with individuals with disabilities. Bachelors degree in a human services field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
SKILLS/ABILITIES
Must be able to pass required clearances and certifications to serve children/youth in the States of Delaware and Pennsylvania.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs or comparable programs.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse constituent population.
Demonstrated organizational and time-management skills with a strong attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential data.
Ability to work evenings or weekends and to travel, as needed.
Must have access to reliable private transportation to travel between various work sites.
