Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Troubleshoot/diagnose electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems
  • Ensure that proper tools and necessary equipment are available and in good condition to perform the required work efficiently
  • Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear (especially eye and ear protection)
  • On-sight inspection, testing and reconditioning of electric motors and generators
  • Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis
  • Perform alignment, precision balancing, calibration, scheduled cleaning and predictive and corrective maintenance services and repair on various types of wind turbines
  • Install and remove electric motors and generators at customer locations
  • Perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor
  • Lift, tighten, adjust and/or secure heavy objects in order to perform work duties
  • Conduct surge, insulation power factor and Hi-potential testing
  • Collect data and report to field office


JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associates degree or Certification as a Wind Turbine Technician preferred
  • Must be able to travel out-of-town overnight on a regular basis
  • Two years related experience or equivalent combination of experience and educations

  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate in English via verbal and written methods
  • Ability to read drawings, prints and schematics
  • Ability to work at or above 240+ feet for extended periods of time, adhering to strict safety guidelines
  • SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud
  • The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions
  • The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration, high, precarious places and outside weather conditions


PHYSICAL DEMANDS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds
  • The employee is regularly required to stand; walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear
