The Wellness Center at UCCS is currently seeking applications for two new Wellness Promotion Coordinator positions. This position will assist in the implementation of comprehensive wellness promotion programs grounded in an integrated and holistic approach to health and wellbeing with a special focus on mental health. This position will work collaboratively with campus partners in promoting a culture of wellbeing for faculty, staff, and students through models such as the Okanagan Charter and the American College Health Association’s (ACHA) Healthy Campuses. This position is responsible for staying up to date with best practices, trainings, and certifications in their field and collecting campus data that can be used to implement measures that continue to enhance a culture of wellbeing at UCCS.

Job Duties:

  • Establishes yearly goals and objectives in support of departmental priorities and initiatives.
  • Employs the standards, practices, and procedures of the department.
  • Adheres to the expectations and professional responsibilities of the department.
  • Assists in developing and administering regular assessment of wellness programs and utilizes that data to enhance programs and services.
  • Collaborates closely with the Basic Needs Coordinator in the Dean of Student’s Office
  • Reviews the wellness and nutrition sections of the Recreation and Wellness Center webpage and reports necessary revisions to supervisor.
  • Contributes and assists department leadership with strategic planning efforts and implementation.
  • Works with a team of students and professionals to develop promotional and educational program materials, marketing, and social media posts.
  • Collaborates within and across disciplines and departments and serves on campus committees related to wellness initiatives and evidence-based programs.
  • Provides and trains faculty on resilience and mindfulness resources for classroom implementation.
  • Implements promising practices and preventative interventions.
  • Completes and complies with UCCS training requirements including HIPAA and FERPA.
  • Promotes, implements, and evaluates an integrated wellness program for students that includes state-of-the art inter- and transdisciplinary (e.g., ecological) aspects of wellbeing, particularly focusing on the intersections between physical health, physical fitness, mental health, and nutrition.
  • Builds campus schedule, delivers, and collaborates with campus partners on interactive trainings, workshops, and classroom presentations on a variety of mental health and wellbeing topics.
  • Serves as speaker/consultant to other university departments, committees, or organizations, as well as to relevant community groups re topics of wellbeing, health, stress management, etc.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as required by the responsibilities of this position.

  • Knowledge of current and emerging issues regarding wellness, learning, and higher education.

Work Location: Hybrid 20% remote, 80% on-site

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

What We Offer:

Salary Range: Generally starting at $43,467 - $56,087per year.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

One opening is for a auxiliary funded position with no expected end date for funding. The second opening is for a limited CU President Initiative funded position, with funding currently limited to three years from the start date. Discussion about which position the finalist may fill will be had during the final stages and limited funded positions will have a funding statement in the formal letter of offer.

This position is dependent on the availability of auxiliary revenues funding.

Tentative Search Timeline:

  • The potential dates for interviews with the search committee will be the week of May 22, 2023.
  • The potential employee start date is July 1, 2023.
  • The potential dates for interviews with the supervisor and appointing authority will be the week of June 5, 2023.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year work or intern experience in Health Promotion, Campus Recreation, Public Health, Higher Education, Nutrition, Nursing, Psychology, Public Administration, Public Policy, or related field
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in health promotion, nutrition, health sciences, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, public health, public administration, health policy, health education, health communication, or closely related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited university in health promotion, nutrition, health sciences, nursing, psychology, public health, public administration, health policy, health education, health communication, or closely related field
  • Experience working in higher education wellness field.
  • Post-graduate training and certifications in a mental health, health/wellness-related field (e.g. QPR, HeartMath, Certified Peer Educator, Health Coach, Mental Health First Aid, or BASICS)

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. Employee is occasionally required to move. Tasks may involve using a computer screen continuously for long periods of time, hearing within normal range. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
