Job Description

Job Specifications

This important role will be part of a team that leads the digital charge at Black Hills Energy. They will work with employees from across the organization to develop, execute and promote the company's goals in digital media. Will assist in the implementation of daily online posting activities across various internal and external websites and digital displays to ensure systems are properly functioning and content remains timely, accurate and aligns with ongoing campaigns. Communicate with authors to update, design and develop new content and make sure all online copy is strategically sound, written in a consistent voice, brand-appropriate, search engine optimized and aligned with the company's overall brand standards, web standards and user experience best-practices.

SALARY RANGE: Determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant.

  • Level II: $62,150 - $93,300
  • Level I: $51,500 - $77,300

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Digital Marketing Program Manager

LOCATION: This position is located at our corporate headquarters in Rapid City, South Dakota.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide support for all internal and external website inquiries and requests.
  • Assist the communications team to support the overall marketing/communications strategy by creating, scheduling and publishing multimedia content across our websites, digital displays and other channels.
  • Continually monitor and update search engine optimization strategy across all web channels.
  • Continually monitor and improve accessibility of all websites.
  • Continually look for opportunities to expand the company's reach into new digital media platforms and execute when appropriate.
  • Use approved content management systems to develop pages and manage, maintain and improve the overall look and timeliness of website content for our internal and external audiences that coincide with campaigns, marketing efforts and strategic goals.
  • Create concepts, artwork and layout for sites and other online projects based on creative briefs, client meetings and user experience best-practices.
  • Assist the team to develop, research, manage and report on integrated digital marketing campaigns including performance, insights and recommendations.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with 3rd party agencies and vendors to support various digital media components.
  • Continually strive to help educate the company on digital media best-practices and web standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Level I:

  • No experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Visual Design, Liberal Arts or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Level II:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Visual Design, Liberal Arts or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • A minimum of (3) three years of experience required.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of methods for tracking website usage by external audiences and evaluating the success of web work, including setting key performance indicators, monitoring visitor statistics, feedback and participation.
  • Strong design and troubleshooting skills as well as an eye for detail.
  • High levels of self-motivation, curiosity, and creativity and can work productively in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in energy industry issues; commitment to life-long learning.
  • Working knowledge of web protocols, such as HTML and CSS, content management systems and templates - expertise in Drupal preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, project management skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment, meet deadlines and enlist others' support in ensuring timely project completion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of webpage and design software included in Adobe Creative Cloud and WYSIWYG editors.
  • Understanding of web design issues, including browser usability and cross-platform compatibility.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of business information.
