The Product & Customer Support Department for Volvo Penta Americas (VPA)—headquartered in Chesapeake, Virginia—is responsible for technical support, warranty administration and customer relations for OEMs, power centers, boat dealers and end users. Distribution of technical information, authorization of major warranty repairs, claim and registration processing, and resolution of end user issues are the major functions of this department.
We are now looking for a Warranty Administrator to join our amazing team here in Chesapeake!
What is the Job?
A Warranty Administrator plays a key role and is accountable for the administration and timely processing of warranty claims, product registrations, campaigns and system support to Volvo Penta dealers and OEMs. This role works closely with the Volvo Penta Technical Support Department in identifying issues related to product warranty to ensure that VPA remains competitive within the marine and industrial markets.
Some of your core responsibilities will include:
- Working with Management to develop, publish and update Warranty Statements, Policies and Procedures, Flat Rate Manual, and other documents used to administer VPA product warranties.
- Working with Reliability Engineering to administer campaigns, maintain parts inspection return programs for warranted parts and accessories, as well as updating Material Request lists as necessary or when requested by the Global Warranty department.
- Performing administrative functions including the maintenance of owner registration information, updating Product Center, and following up on failed parts returns.
- Assisting dealers/OEMs with questions and solutions via functional mailbox or telephone regarding policy and procedures within authorization framework.
- Reviewing and acting on dealer/OEM warranty claims and supporting documents in a timely, efficient manner following published VPA policies and procedures. You will also investigate all questionable Dealer/OEM Warranty Claims, and periodically audit dealer warranty claims using established reporting tools.
Do you have what it takes?
To be successful in this position you will need to have working knowledge of warranty administration and retail repair practices and activities including basis technical aptitude.
The Basics
As with all our positions here in Volvo Penta, you will need experience with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook. We would also like you to have familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
As you will be directly responsible for reviewing warranty claims, being detail oriented is paramount as is the need for fluency in speaking and writing English in order to communicate successfully with internal and external stakeholders at different levels of the organization.
Education and Experience
This position requires:
- Experience with Marine OEM and dealership experience is desirable.
- Experience with Volvo Penta products is preferred
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience directly with warranty preferably within the transportation or power generation industry
- Bilingual (English/Spanish, English/French), a plus
- Experience in claim processing and adjudication
- An Associate’s Degree or Certificate in a related discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
