Position Summary
The MIG Welder I will join, fabricate, and repair steel parts by utilizing specialized gas metal arc welding techniques and equipment.
Duties And Responsibilities

• Support the safety and quality programs by following all accompanying rules and established processes.
• Other duties as assigned.
• May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty.
• May prepare the materials and set up for a welding device or robot.
• Combines, manufactures, and fixes metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques.
• Examines completed welds to determine structural integrity.
• Deciphers blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine suitable welding process.
• Familiar with and adheres to all safety requirements and protocols.

Skills and Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Provide high quality work to all internal and external customers as related to the output of their position.
• Relevant apprenticeship, experience, or vocational training, preferred.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Capable of setting up and operating one or more processing machines.
• Ability to comprehend and interpret simple blueprints.
• Capability to convert metric to English.
• Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measure, box caliper, slide dial caliper and micrometer.
• Ability to use a variety of hand tools such as hammer, pliers, screwdriver, wrench, drill, grinder and bander.
• Capability to convert fractions to decimals and vice versa.
• Proficiency in operating forklift and cranes.
• Must be able to tack weld or welding components and assemblies using electric, gas, archor other welding equipment.
• Must be able to use a torch.
• Speak, write and comprehend conversational English.
• Must pass a MIG welder certification.
