As the Vice President, Operational Excellence you are responsible for leading the creation and deployment of mid to long term strategies in the D&L network designed to accommodate growth, drive efficiency and leverage supply chain best practices. This leader will need to create an integrated roadmap that incorporates distribution technology best practices, operational continuous improvement and a network/footprint design against growth plans to create an efficient, resilient fulfillment network that meets customer expectations. This roadmap will need to be translated into targets and action plans to be implemented within the regions. This role will then lead the execution of these plans in collaboration with the regional teams. It is critical for this leader build a talented, capable team that is attuned to the practices used by world class distribution operations and can incorporate those ideas and practices into our operations.


What You’ll Do Here


  • Benchmark Crocs network against other footwear brands to evaluate potential best practices around network design & operation.
  • Clear & transparent communication to all cross functional partners around challenges and constraints the D&L network faces. Engage cross functional partners in analysis, planning & execution.
  • Be recognized by the organization as a thoughtful, engaging partner that is critical to achieving business objectives.
  • Define optimal mix of owned vs 3PL fulfillment capacity based on broad evaluation of risk, capital efficiency, fulfillment costs & growth needs.
  • Define segmented fulfillment strategies (wholesale, retail & digital) to optimize network efficiency and customer service levels.
  • Partner with the DC leadership to create joint action plans to ensure implementation of best practices.
  • Partner with IT to identify & prioritize key BI needs. Ensure implementation meets functional / business needs.
  • Partner with operational leaders to define key metrics / dashboards to evaluate performance and identify key improvement areas.
  • Demonstrates capability to drive a collaborative / cohesive culture where the whole team is engaged and pulling towards the same goals.
  • Take ownership & accountability to find solutions to support the business needs.
  • Challenge conventions of current D&L processes in a respectful & collaborative way to create breakthroughs in approach.
  • Key member of the Global Distribution & Logistics team. Provide input and thought leadership around, continuous improvement efforts and strategic direction for function. Understand evolution of business and strategic implications on the D&L function.
  • Monitor execution of site level teams. Facilitate identification of key problems and teams to develop creative, pragmatic solutions.
  • Willingness to engage at a detailed level when demanded. (services, shipping, planning/scheduling, inventory and quality control, returns, engineering/maintenance)
  • Work with global D&L leadership team to create a strategic roadmap for the regional level network to deliver capabilities and capacity to meet long term business outlook.
  • Identify and develop initiatives to bring new technologies into the distribution network to drive efficiency in our operations.
  • Leverage owned facilities, 3PL partners and direct delivery solutions to create a capital efficient & flexible fulfillment network.
  • Provide cross functional process accountability & standardization in key areas – labor planning, inventory management, operational planning, and freight management.
  • Ongoing partnership with the regional business leaders to set targets and oversee implementation of network design plans.
  • Partner with regional operations to develop pilot and deployment plans to evaluate performance and to realize measurable benefits from deployed new technologies.
  • Partner with Distribution Operations, Logistics, Planning, Finance, and Commercial leaders to deliver business plans.
  • Create network design to meet growth plans for business with initiatives supported by analysis.
  • Champion & drive the use of continuous improvement approach utilizing lean & six sigma to enhance our problem-solving skills at the DCs.
  • Assess current available and emerging technologies in the market to develop a clear perspective on potential applications within our distribution network.
  • Build a transparent and engaging partnership with regional distribution operating teams & finance. Understand key needs & challenges to continue to improve & grow the performance of our global D&L function.
  • Benchmark similar industry approaches to distribution technology use.
  • Facilitate the creation and use of best practices to improve operations. Identify gaps and facilitate creating solutions that improve the organizations’ ability to monitor & deliver results.


What You Bring To The Table


  • Strong project management, leadership, and problem-solving skills that set and achieve high expectations for the team.
  • Knowledgeable and experienced with managing continuous improvement implementation utilizing Six Sigma & Lean tools. Experience in using a KPI based approach to performance.
  • Experience with SAP / Oracle ERP and Manhattan WMS or similar operating systems in a WMS environment is critical.
  • Excellent broad supply chain experience that can be leveraged to proactively identify problems & facilitate solutions with the business team.
  • Results driven with a high sense of urgency – willing to dive into problems at a detail level as needed to facilitate resolution.
  • 10+ years as a Director / VP in a high-volume distribution operation with a minimum of 5 years of DC general management experience. Experience with automated warehousing capabilities is a must.
  • Excellent PC skills including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook.
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations management, business administration, or a related field.
  • Organized with attention to detail. Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Skilled at managing and facilitating change.
  • Strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills. Must be confident and comfortable reaching across functions and levels in the organization.
