Job Description

Vice President, Category Management for Alside, an Associated Materials division, will be responsible for the development and execution of the Alside product line strategy designed to capture profitable share growth.

This position will be product and supplier focused while partnering with field leadership, sales and sales support organizations, integrated service solutions, and customers. This position is also responsible for the achievement of sales objectives, profitability goals, market share and competitive position strategies.

  • Partner with sales operations and supply chain to problem solve as headwinds and opportunities arise i.e.; allocations, demand shaping
  • Co-create annual brand and sales strategies alongside Sales Leadership, Marketing and Category Strategy partners
  • Lead the team to ensure inventory strategy and management for all channels to drive productivity, efficiency, revenue, and margin targets
  • Oversee Alside’s Commercial product line innovation efforts, working with Supplier Partners to ensure first to market opportunities.
  • Build alliances with strategic channel partners
  • Partner with customer teams and internal sales leadership team to optimize trade and marketing & promotion plans to align with both customer and Alside’s multiyear strategic growth initiatives
  • Analyze market trends, competitive activity, and customer data to identify product opportunities and inform building product category decisions.
  • Provide consumer and market input into the product roadmap in order to expand product assortments beyond the core business
  • Establish supplier strategies by market and Commercial product line.
  • Development and implementation of comprehensive category management strategies/category business plans for the Alside that align with company objectives and customer needs to deliver category sales, margin, and inventory targets.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and best practices, makes recommendations to improve current programs and processes.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to develop effective pricing and promotional strategies for building products
  • Develop and foster relationships with supplier partners to facilitate effective promotional planning to increase sales and net profit, lower costs, maximize trade funds, and optimize partnerships.
Qualifications

  • 15+ years prior experience in a leadership role in Retail, eCommerce, Sales & Merchandising Strategy with P&L responsibility
  • Advanced analytics
  • Adept at managing organizational change and project management and seizing opportunities for growth and continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Thinking
  • Multi-channel experience (internal or field sales Sales)
  • Strong understanding of P&L drivers
  • Category Management/ Insights
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking

  • Proven ability to identify profitable new business opportunities, describing the financial benefits and risks
  • Experience driving transformation through innovation, operational excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Bachelor’s Degree Required, advanced degree preferred
