Description
Fisk University is currently seeking candidates for a one-year, full-time Visiting Assistant Professor position in African American Literature for the 2023-2024
academic year. Applicants must demonstrate an interest and high level of competence in undergraduate teaching. Instruction and scholarship in Postcolonial, Diasporic, or Gender Studies is a plus.
Essential Functions
Primary responsibilities include teaching introductory and upper-division courses (12 credit hours per semester) in English and First-Year Writing. Excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level is essential. Understanding, support, and willingness to participate in the advancement of the liberal arts is required.
Specific Job Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in African American Literature or related fields from an accredited institution with 3-5 years teaching experience. Applicants must have a successful teaching record using various pedagogical techniques and methodologies as well as excellent interpersonal and computer skills. Instruction and
scholarship in Postcolonial, Diasporic, or Gender Studies is a plus.

Qualifications
Education: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in African American Literature or related fields.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in African American Literature or related
areas; minimum 3 years teaching experience in First-Year Writing; college teaching
Experience Preferred.
