Job Description

Jan Marini Skin Research is seeking a Video Editor to help build our brand through social media, digital advertising, and education. Our Videos deliverables include Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, other emerging digital platforms, digital advertising on Amazon, Google, Meta, and more. In addition, video content is used for our company website and educational purposes.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who lives to create fun, original and attention-grabbing content, and who has a deep understanding of the TikTok and IG Reels platform, as well as long-form video creation. Working closely with the marketing department (inclusive of our design team, Marketing Managers, and videographer), Education, Sales, and National accounts. The ideal candidate is collaborative, ambitious, self-sufficient at creating content, and full of ideas! A love of keeping a close eye on trends and culture are a must!

Candidate should have strong creative and video editing skills and experience working with software including Adobe Premier Pro, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator. Experience and knowledge in the social media and influencer space is a bonus. Familiarity with the skin care or beauty arena is a double plus. Motion graphic skills are a triple plus.

Function: Position Overview: As a Video Editor, your primary responsibility will be to create compelling and engaging video content by editing raw footage and applying post-production techniques. You will collaborate with the creative team to understand project requirements, execute editing tasks, and deliver high-quality videos that align with the organization's goals. Strong technical skills, creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work within deadlines are essential for this role.

Reports to: Creative Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned)

  • Video Editing: Utilize video editing software including Adobe Premiere Pro, to create polished, visually appealing videos.
  • Time Management: Efficiently manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks based on project requirements and deadlines.
  • Post-production: Apply video effects, transitions, color correction, and audio to enhance the overall quality of the video content.
  • Feedback and Iteration: Incorporate feedback from team members, marketing managers, or stakeholders and make necessary revisions to deliver the desired video output.
  • Industry and Social Media Trends: Stay updated with the latest video editing techniques, software updates, and emerging trends in the industry to continuously improve skills and contribute fresh and current ideas to projects.
  • Content Optimization: Optimize videos for various platforms and formats, considering aspect ratios, video lengths, and technical specifications required for online distribution.
  • Collaboration: Work closely, and in concert with the creative team to ensure on-brand, cohesive, consistent style, and messaging accuracy across all projects.
  • Organization and File Management: Maintain an organized file structure and effectively manage video assets, ensuring easy retrieval and accessibility.
  • Quality Control: Review and proofread videos for errors or inconsistencies, ensuring the final product meets the required standards and specifications.
  • Storytelling: Understand the intended message or story and creatively structure the video to effectively convey the desired narrative.

Physical and Environmental Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and perform some repetitive motion activities. Utilize fine motor coordination, clear speech, and good visual acuity. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of work experience as a Video Editor Marketing or equivalent experience

  • Expert in video editing software including Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro
  • Strong understanding of video editing principles, techniques, and best practices.
  • Solid knowledge of video codecs, formats, and compression standards.
  • Familiarity with motion graphics and visual effects is a plus.

· Must be able to work collaboratively, teamwork is absolutely essential, but with the ability to work independently as well.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Creative thinking and a keen eye for visual storytelling.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work within deadlines.

· Must be up to speed with social media channels and trends: Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and YouTube.

· Strong communication skills to effectively understand project requirements and incorporate feedback.

· A can-do person who takes on tasks proactively and sees things through to completion.
