Department Information


The Opportunity


This position will edit short and long form instructional content for Mines Online and the Trefny Innovative Instruction Center and will serve as a lead for our team of students who support digital media production. This on-campus role is a one-year, term-limited position with the possibility and plan to extend as funding allows. This position reports to the Asst. Vice President of Online Learning.


The Department


This position works with Mines Online, Trefny Innovative Instruction Center, and the HIVE. These teams, work in close collaboration and proximity. They are charged with advancing teaching and learning at Mines, including the production of multimedia such as video resources. Accomplishing this requires a commitment to continuous innovation and improvement in education and instruction. We function as a strong collaborative and thoughtful team, and we are excited to welcome a new video editor to our group!


Description of Job


Responsibilities


Video Editing:


  • Maintain organized records and media assets on our servers and video project management system.
  • Find, utilize considering copyright, and organize additional assets from across the web as needed.
  • Edit videos in accordance with brand style and technical specs as established in the Online Mines style guide.
  • Edit instructional and promotional videos with a short turnaround time based on pre-established deadlines.
  • Create video thumbnails, GIFs, and other multimedia for upload.


Team Leadership


  • Serve as a lead for our team of 15 part-time student editors: reviewing initial drafts; providing support, guidance, training, recording and/or scheduling recordings of video as needed; quality control, communicating with faculty and staff; and archiving material.


Pay Range


$53,500-$60,000


Mines takes into consideration a combination of candidate’s education, training and experience as well as the position’s scope and complexity, the discretion and latitude required in the role, work location, and external market and internal value when determining a salary level for potential new employees.

Minimum Qualifications


  • 1+ years’ of video editing experience
  • Ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Must be self-motivated and driven with ability to produce quality work
  • Demonstrated experience to complete work accurately and in a timely manner
  • Keen eye for details
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition, and the Adobe Creative Cloud suite
  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to manage projects and provide quality reviews/assurance
  • Adept at problem-solving and critical thinking
  • Able to juggle multiple projects at once and to exercise good judgment when confronted with conflicting timelines and multiple requests for quick turnarounds
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a group to accomplish goals


Preferred Qualifications


  • Candidates should have a working knowledge of a server based-digital media workflow
  • Familiarity with video management systems
